Terrestrial Lidar in Forest Plots
25 - 27 september 2017
As a side event of the IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress held in Freiburg, a three days workshop is proposed in Nancy (France) [25-27 September 2017] to deliver knowledge and to share experiences about the use of this technology in a forestry context. The targeted participants are PhD students and Researchers. The first day will be dedicated to an introduction to the technology, and how to get relevant data in a forest environment. The following days will be dedicated to the extraction of different characteristics at different scales (plot, canopy, tree, trunk levels), taking advantage of the functionalities of the opensource platform Computree for differents purposes (forest inventory, biomass, LAI, tree architecture, tree quality). All organisers have a strong expertise of this technology and are involved in the development of the Computree platform. In each session, after a brief introduction of the fundamentals and objectives for each purpose, an important part will be dedicated to train the participants for processing such data. The number of participants will be limited to twenty.
